Disabled-Enabled has come about through necessity, and the genuine wish to enable disabled people everywhere, to have the same access, opportunities, availability, satisfaction, quality and pleasure from life as the non-disabled.

We appreciate the necessity personally. My name is Stuart Mackin and I’m married to Helen.

Helen, her brother and sister have Friedreich's Ataxia and are all wheelchair users.

Needless to say these circumstances have raised some problems over the years and while some information is available to make life easier on the web and elsewhere, it is scattered, not kept up to date or provided for local areas.

In this day and age of instant communication and fast travel, countries and the world are smaller and disabled people are much more adventurous and as keen as anyone else to exploit all the opportunities available.
Computers have played a part in this and it is a fact that disabled people and their carers are tending to rely more on their PC’s and the internet than they ever did on newsheets and booklets.

The opportunity for personal input to help others and to access that information very quickly to plan your purchases, holidays, entertainment etc. and to find up-to-date information on benefits, developments and the myriad other things that will no doubt be raised here by the people affected, is here now…...and Disabled-Enabled is where we plan for it to happen.

Wouldn’t it be great if eventually you could look up Disabled-Enabled.com before you go anywhere, buy anything, go for a day trip and find out everything a disabled person needs to know before you leave home.

I and my father Douglas have designed the site and will be working very hard to maintain a high standard of up to the minute content a lot of which you will provide.
