SOUTH DEVON COALITION OF DISABLED PEOPLE

The organisation was formed in 1989 as South Devon Disability Focus to be run by people with disabilities to support people with disabilities.

• The support we give to clients includes:

· Assistance with application for benefits:

Forms are a source of confusion for us all and particularly if you have a disability to contend with.  We support our Clients and enable them to receive their statutory entitlements.

· Representation:

For example representing Clients at appeals re benefit claims, housing etc.

· Enablement:

Which includes accessing funds to purchase vital equipment or assistance in the use of I.T. which has such potential to overcome / minimise a disability.  ~ Also we provide work placements in our office for people with disabilities in order that they can gain confidence to return to the workplace.

· Advocacy:

Pursuing the rights both for individuals and groups of people with disabilities.
